Recommendations for Cleaning the Outside of Your House for Fiber Cement Siding and Trim

The manufacturer of the caulking or sealant should write down how to apply it, or ASTM C1193. A Latex Joint Sealant that meets ASTM C834 should be used for best results. An Elastomeric Joint Sealant that meets ASTM C920 Grade NS should be used for best results.
A cementitious patching compound can be used to fill in small dents, chips, cracks, and other surface damage in Hardie® siding and trim products.
Take care of fiber cement siding the right way, and there’s not much that can go wrong if you do that. Make sure to clean it about once a year and paint it every 10 to 15 years.
