This Seattle exterior project uses James HardiePanels supported by a straightforward weather-management system behind the finished siding. KV Construction installed HardieWrap paper, added flashing around the windows, completed the exterior with HardiePanel siding, and sealed the documented siding seams.

James HardiePanels form the main exterior cladding on this project. Large-format fiber cement panels create a different look from conventional horizontal lap siding, with broader wall surfaces and more visible seam locations.
HardieWrap paper was installed behind the new panel siding. The weather-resistive layer provides additional protection behind the visible fiber cement exterior and helps support the wall’s moisture-management strategy.
Flashing was installed around the windows as part of the siding scope. Windows interrupt the continuity of the exterior wall, making these transitions especially important during a panel siding installation.
The documented siding seams were caulked as part of the installation. On a panel exterior, seam locations are both visible architectural details and transitions within the siding system.
This case is a straightforward James HardiePanel project centered on four core elements: fiber cement panels, HardieWrap, window flashing, and sealed siding seams. The completed exterior creates a clean panel-based appearance while incorporating the basic weather-management details needed around the wall and window openings.
