Bothell New Construction James Hardie Siding, Hardie Soffit, 19 Windows & Sliding Door Installation
This new construction project was built as a coordinated exterior package from the start, with James Hardie siding, weather barrier, windows, a sliding door, soffit work, and a pine tongue-and-groove porch detail all planned together.
Because there was no old siding tear-off, the key challenge was sequence: establish HardieWrap, tape and flashing correctly, integrate 19 windows and one sliding door, then complete the siding, trim, blocks, soffit, and sealant details without creating disconnected transitions.
For a Pacific Northwest new build, that early coordination matters. Windows, doors, blocks, corners, and roofline details can be integrated into the drainage plane before the exterior is closed in.

Building the Exterior Envelope From the Start
KV Construction installed HardieWrap paper, 1 1/2-inch Hardie seam tape, and 4-inch HardieFlash tape around windows and doors. That created the weather-management layer before the visible siding was installed, which is a stronger approach than trying to correct drainage details after construction is complete.
Window and Sliding Door Integration
The scope included installation of 19 windows and one sliding door. The source also calls for window wrap with 1 1/2-inch Hardie screws. With that many openings, repeatable flashing and trim details are essential because every window interrupts the wall assembly.
Primed HardiePlank and Rustic Trim
The main siding was 8 1/4-inch primed Hardie lap siding installed at a 7-inch reveal. Prime rustic Hardie 5/4×4 was used for outside corners, window trim, and door trim, with prime W metal at inside corners and additional 26GA flashing around windows and blocks.
Blocks, Z Flashing, and Sealant
Hardie 7×10 light blocks, outlet blocks, and the specified water-service blocks were integrated into the exterior. Prime 26GA flashing and Z-metal were used at blocks and windows, while QUAD MAX caulking completed the specified transitions.
Hardie Soffit and Pine T&G Porch
The roofline scope included Hardie soffit, while 1×6 pine tongue-and-groove was limited to the front porch area. That selective natural-wood detail gives the entry a warmer finish without changing the primary fiber cement strategy across the rest of the exterior.
Why This Scope Matters in Pacific Northwest Conditions
Pacific Northwest siding work has to account for repeated rain, wind-driven moisture, shaded wall sections, and long wet seasons. The strongest project scopes do not ask the finished siding to do every job by itself. They coordinate the documented substrate, weather barrier, flashing, trim, blocks, soffit, panel seams, sealant, and finish details so water has a controlled path outward and the exterior can age as one system.
Outcome and Homeowner / Property Owner Value
The finished project is valuable because the visible James Hardie material is tied to the supporting work documented in the source scope. That makes the page a proof asset for KV Construction’s full-system approach rather than a generic materials list. Where a source detail is missing or ambiguous, this package keeps it open instead of inventing a product, color, repair condition, or location.
