West Woodland / Ballard Timber Bark ColorPlus HardiePlank Siding Replacement
This West Woodland / Ballard, Seattle, WA project was built as a complete exterior case study, not just another list of siding materials. The core installation centered on 8 1/4-inch ColorPlus HardiePlank lap Cedarmill siding with a 7-inch reveal in Timber Bark. Timber Bark ColorPlus siding gave the home a warm, grounded look while HydroGap and detailed flashing helped move water away from the sheathing behind the new HardiePlank. The work also included replacement of older cedar siding with a drainable HydroGap system and prefinished Timber Bark ColorPlus siding, which made the project more layered than a standard siding replacement and gave the final result a stronger sense of place.

The drainable HydroGap layer was especially useful here because it gives incidental moisture a better drying path behind the siding, which is valuable on shaded elevations and in long wet seasons. QUAD MAX sealant was used at key transitions so trim, blocks, windows, doors, and siding could work together instead of becoming separate weak points.
