Ravenna Lead-Painted Siding Removal & HardiePlank Replacement
KV Construction completed a full siding replacement and repair scope at 14th Avenue NE in Seattle’s Ravenna area. The project included tearing off old lead-painted siding, installing HardieWrap, taping seams and openings, flashing windows and blocks, and installing primed 7 1/4-inch James Hardie Cedarmill lap siding with a 6-inch reveal.
This project also included 15 window reinstallations, new vented Hardie soffit with aluminum vented channel, primed rustic Hardie 5/4×4 corners, window trim, and door trim, plus light, outlet, and water bib blocks integrated into the siding system.
The crew solved several exterior problems discovered in the process: dry rot repair, front railing reinstallation, fascia repair, and rotten plywood and fascia board spot repairs. For older Northeast Seattle homes, those repairs are often what make the difference between a cosmetic siding job and a real exterior envelope upgrade.

Lead-Painted Siding Removed From an Older Ravenna Home
The project began with removal of old lead-painted siding. KV Construction’s EPA Lead-Safe certification matters on this kind of older Seattle exterior because the tear-off process needs to be handled carefully.

6-Inch Reveal Primed HardiePlank
The new siding used primed 7 1/4-inch Hardie lap Cedarmill with a 6-inch reveal. This slightly tighter reveal gives the home a more traditional profile while upgrading to fiber cement performance.

15 Windows Reinstalled During the Siding Scope
Reinstalling the windows allowed the crew to reset the flashing and trim details. HardieFlash, 26GA head flashing, Z flashing, and block flashings were all tied into the exterior package.

Vented Hardie Soffit With Aluminum Channel
The old soffit was removed and replaced with vented Hardie soffit and aluminum vented channel. This gave the eaves a cleaner finish while supporting ventilation at the roofline.

Dry Rot and Fascia Repairs Completed Before Finish
KV Construction repaired dry rot, fascia board damage, and rotten plywood spots before closing the exterior. These are the hidden conditions that need to be handled properly during full siding replacement.

Front Railing Reinstalled After Exterior Repairs
The project also included front railing reinstallation, showing how siding work often requires careful coordination around existing exterior features.
